About

Little A is a 100-seat indie theatre tucked away in the middle of Ōtautahi's hottest nightlife, The Terrace. You'll normally find a whole lot of new shows here every week – emerging professional artists with awesome ideas, and established artists performing new material.

Whether you want to see small intimate theatre productions, or come to our regular improv comedy show PERFUCT, or watch comedians play Dungeons and Dragons once a month, or see the country's hottest comedians when they're in Christchurch, or see music, dance, poetry... or even just come and hang out in the bar... we're here for you.

We do between 1-3 shows in a night, but you can see the latest schedule by clicking on the "View Calendar" button.

Artists take 75% of the ticket sales so you can rest assured that your ticket money is going to the people you see on the stage,

Like most creative theatres, Little Andromeda is a registered charity and our income comes from a mixture of our 25% cut of the tickets, bar sales, charitable funding grants, corporate hires, sponsorship and donations. We do mean shows for corporate groups that you'll never forget, and we love to plug a sponsor, so if you'd like to talk to us about any of that, or just making a donation and getting a receipt so you can claim a third back at tax time, get in touch!

If you're an artist looking to pitch a show here, this is the page for you...

First time here?

We generally start shows on time but the bar is open from TWO hours before the first show of the night so get here as early as you like! Grab a drink, order nice hot food (brought to us by our friends next door at Craft Embassy) and chill. Or grab dinner at any of the excellent restaurants on The Terrace and just stroll here with enough time to join the rush at the bar a quarter hour before the show.

The seating is first in first served, but there isn't really a bad seat in the house. If you have accessibility requirements, jump on the accessibility page and let us know you're coming!

You're welcome to take food and drink into the theatre (just as long as it's food and drink you purchased from us).

If it's your first time at a theatre show, then welcome! A couple of other wee etiquette things you should know – you should switch your phone off or to silent and not check it for the hour that you're in there (when someone opens it up, the light makes their face light up and it's distracting for the other 100 people in the room!). The other thing to avoid is chatting to your friends – we rarely have to step in, but the more a person has been drinking the harder it is for us to quietly try and tell them that they're spoiling the fun experience for everyone! So just don't be "that guy". But it's otherwise pretty chill at Little A - there's no specific dress code but we're certainly not formal. And we want you to relax, enjoy the show and have a great night!
