Statement: The organisers of this event care deeply about the inherently political decisions made by the European Broadcasting Union, that are not just unfolding but have been ongoing for several years. We condemn the genocide that Israel is still committing in Palestine. We are appalled by the European Broadcasting Union's decision to allow Israel to compete in the competition, especially having banned Russia from doing so in 2022 due to their invasion of Ukraine. Representation matters, and as a powerful political force, Eurovision should not be platforming any country engaged in international crime.

As such our decision to proceed with our silly little breakfast party on the other side of the world has been harder than ever. Over the last two years we have turned the stream off during Israel's entry. This year, we consulted the Eurobreakfast regulars and received really thoughtful replies, with a very split range of opinions on how we should respond to the awful situation. The decision to proceed has not been made lightly.

We will proceed, as we value THIS community, and some we only get to see once a year at Eurobreakfast. The party may at times feel a bit more somber this year, and we will notice the empty seats of people that we know are missing from the room. We also really hope that part of what makes Eurobreakfast fun isn't just checking out what's going on over there, it's that we get to be in the room with each other, have a party at stupid o'clock in the morning and eat some great kai for breakfast. One advantage if Israel gets into the finals is that we also get another drinks break.

This could well be our last Eurobreakfast, we don't know.

So we look forward to partying with as many of you want to come and having a great morning with our friends, despite the world burning around us. If you can't make it then we'll sorely miss you but totally understand.

Free Palestine.
