It’s Christmas Eve and a UFO (Unidentified Falling Object) lands in the small rural community of Wee Melt, halfway between Weedons and West Melton. What exactly it is nobody knows, but whatever it is it’s really weird looking with a nose that glows red… and black! After a six month tram journey to the bright lights of Ōtautahi, our glowing UFO is drawn to the brightest light of all, One NZ Stadium! Inside he discovers the most beautiful creatures of all, the Crusaders Horses! Surely this is his destiny, or perhaps a mysterious jolly winking figure and the three wise men of Canterbury rugby have other plans for our red and black hero?

The annual Andromeda Christmas Comedy is a must see riotous end to every year, and Rudolph The Red & Black Nosed Reindeer is no exception! Rugby! Reindeer! Robbie Deans! (Real Robbie Deans highly unlikely to appear in show.)

This uniquely Christchurch take on the Christmas classic is brought to you by many of your Andromeda favourites, starring Dan Allen, Kathleen Burns, Reylene Rose Hilaga and Hillary Moulder, written by Gregory Cooper, directed by Dan Bain, and with music by Michael Bell.

Previous years have included the riots: Opening Night Before Christmas (2019), Christ! What a Night (2020), Toys (2021), Cancel Santa (2022), Flight Before Christmas (2023), O Little Town of Beckenham (2024) and A Christchurch Carol (2025). We can't wait to bring you our 2026 offering!

This play is fairly strictly R16.
